Advance Payment Recoupment

Many students took advantage of an opportunity to receive an emergency payment of up to $3,000 from VA during the 2009 fall term. At the time, they were advised the funds would be withheld from future benefits. The recoupment process will begin on April 1.

Beneficiaries will receive 2 letters. The first will inform you the VA will start withholding $750 from your benefit payments beginning April 1. The second letter is from the Debt Management Center (DMC), which will advise you of your repayment options. Individuals may arrange an alternate repayment plan with DMC.
